Hi! I’m Sue
I would describe myself as a mental health advocate and below is my story
At the beginning of March in 2018 my mental health was not in a good place, in fact it was quite the opposite. I struggled to focus on any one thing for a length of time and anything I tried got put down or I quickly moved on to try something else. I found myself to be very fidgety, especially with my hands, clicking pens, straightening paperclips, flicking elastic bands and could not seem to rest or sit still.
I went to a friends house who was only a few street away. She was very much into crochet and was surrounded by blankets and other such items she had created. At the time I did not consider myself to be creative, but after she very patiently showed me some basics and allowed me to borrow a hook and some yarn to practice.
To this day I find myself crocheting most days, there have been a number of things including crochet that has helped me on my mental health journey. One of the things I found most rewarding is spreading kindness and I have found crochet to be a great enabler for that.
This is why I have started this page and blog to help raise awareness for how finding a craft has supported me and also by trying to spread a little kindness can make all the difference to someone's day.
